Today, I want to see you write some figurative language (writing that imply’s meaning).
We have learned about metaphors, similes, personification, alliteration, and onomatopoeia. Now I would like to see you apply this in a creative way. For instance, you might want to explain how you are like a rock, flower, old shoe, or something else. Maybe you might want to write some free verse on a topic like rain, storms, winter, summer, colours like Ken Nordine or something else entirely.
Either way, I want to see examples of these types of figurative language! It’s your chance to write without “RULES”. No prose, just poetry!
Also feel free to comment on others and try to identify what type of figurative language they used.

Thunder
As the thunder booms, and booms, all the animals
Run as fast as they can, to find shelter.
As they run the lightning flashes down,

To the ground. Until. BOOM!
The thunder CRASHES and BOOMS!
Then. It all goes silent, the birds start
Singing and all the animals start coming out of
There hiding places.
Thunder.
My dog used to be scared of fireworks, so I don’t think he’d do well with thunder.
Bacon.
Great, Good, Greasy.
Doesn’t leave your stomach mad.
Bacon likes you, if you like him.
Bacon could be eaten at any time of the day.
Bacon wants you to continue eating.
Bacon, brilliant, besties.
Bacon is friends with eggs.
The buzzer DINGS when the bacon is finished.
Bacon, bacon, bacon…
I love bacon!

All you can hear is you voice echo bouncing of the cave walls
Feel lonely with no one around just you and your echo’s
Feel a shame for what you did you can only see darkness

The colour of a tree
The colour of grass
A colour of an alligator
Green is all around you.
I am like a Jaguar, smart, sneaky, and swift like a Jaguar.
