Should kids under the age of 13 be allowed to Facebook?

At issue today is Facebook’s privacy policy that states users must be at least 13 or older to create an account. Even though this is the policy, scores of underage users skirt the social network’s rules by listing false ages.

Should these underage users be able to Facebook or not? That is the question that our class expositions  debate.

Before you read on, make sure to take our survey.

    Facebook Expositions

There are many people who believe that children under the age of thirteen should have a Facebook account. Facebook is a type of blog that even says you need to be thirteen years of age to own an account, yet some parents still let their children on by lying about their age. This should not be happening, and many other people would agree with that to.

First of all, there is absolutely NO privacy what so ever on Facebook. By letting your child on Facebook, you are basically exposing your child to people all over the world. With the click of a button, anyone can see your child’s life, status, age, birthday, and all of their personal information. That has the chance of leading to stalking. Does it not?

A big issue on Facebook is cyber-bullying. Let’s think about Amanda Todd. Facebook was some what responsible for what happened, right? Exactly. Your kid could be the next Amanda Todd, especially since Facebook is a target for bullying. Yes, Facebook is a quick, easy, free way to stay in touch with your friends, but if your kid says one little tiny wrong thing, they could have a major case of cyber-bullying on their hands.

Something that should be fixed on Facebook is how anyone can look on your account. Your account is private and only your friends and family should be able to see your account. By having your child on Facebook, anyone can go access their account and find out everything about them. Would you want this to happen to your kid?

Last but not least, let’s talk about stalkers. Stalkers can go onto your account and watch your every move. This is especially dangerous if your house is on the Facebook map. Another way this is very dangerous is when someone (or a stalker) makes a fake account, says that they are related to you or they are really close friends with a relative, and starts asking you or your child questions. Stalkers are a major problem on Facebook, and your child could have one of their own if you create an account for them.

As you can see from the arguments above, it is a bad idea to let your child who is under the age of thirteen have a Facebook account.

Why Kids Should Not Be On Facebook.

There are many children who use Facebook. A lot of parents think this is okay, but it really isn’t. Many other people think differently, and deny that is okay. Facebook’s policy says people need to be 13 or over to use it. Therefore, kids should not be on Facebook.

An argument is that there are many obnoxious or angry people on Facebook. They start swearing and throwing insults at each other. Kids could look at the replies and say “Hey! It must be OK to say those words that those people are saying!” Now, many people know of the “Block” option in Facebook, and people can use it to prevent the person from replying to your stuff. But some kids may not know how to use it. Now, do you want your kids to be exposed to foul language? Of course not.

Another argument is that there are scammers on Facebook.
First off, they can make your kids become upset, all over a game. The second example is that they can get into the child’s account via fooling them into him/her by saying “Hello, if you would like 3,000 gold bars, just give me your email and password, and I’ll give it to you!” Then, the scammer either changes the password, ruin their stuff, or just spend their in-game items that they don’t need. Children scammers, because it’s easy to them fall into a scam.

Thirdly, there are hackers on Facebook. For example, the hackers can get into their account and expose personal information. This could really anger parents, as the hackers can send out information of not only the child, but the parents as well, but it only happens if the child plays on the parent’s account.

Lastly, there are predators on Facebook. Predators (Otherwise known as stalkers.) ask for the child’s personal information, like where he/she lives, (State/Province, Country, City, and Address.) what their real age is, and what their real name is. This can really endanger the child, as the person could stalk the child, and gain more information about the child.

In the end, there are MANY dangerous things on Facebook, and those are four reasons why kids should not be on Facebook.

Should kids under the age of fourteen have Facebook
There are many people that do not want there kids having Facebook accounts because there is lots of dangerous things out there. Therefore, kids should not have Facebook under the age of fourteen.

First pedophiles like young kids and it attracts them to add you then they ask your age, phone number, and personal information. A predator could act on this and cause harm. They can stalk you and they can hurt them and there family.

Also hackers can take information from Facebook then it can make it so much easier to hack into your photos, contacts and every thing on you computer or laptop. Facebook has little security protection of making a hacker’s good easer

Another reason why Facebook is not good for kids under the age of fourteen is cyber bullying. Cyber bullying is a big thing on the internet right cyber bulling is when you bully people on the internet. Now also there has been a couple of incidents like Amanda Todd. Facebook can give fake profiles and fake pictures.

The last piece of evidence is breaking the policy. When you make a Facebook account it ask your age and if you are under the age of fourteen you have to lie about you age and that’s breaking the policy and lying to Facebook should this be encouraged

In conclusion I think kids under the age of fourteen should not be on Facebook because there are lots of thing like hackers, pedophiles cyber bulling, and breaking the policy.

    Should Kids be on Facebook?

Kids under 13 should not go on Facebook for a variety of reasons and Facebook’s privacy policy clearly states that a person needs to be at least 13 years old to sign up. Therefore, people under 13 should not go on Facebook.

One Problem on Facebook are scammers. Scammers can take you’re ingame money.
There are many fake ads and fake offers on Facebook. Also for example a fake ad may sound like this: “Want this hotel for 3000 coins?” Kids are more likely to believe fake ads or fake offers.

Another reason children under 13 should not go on Facebook is that they maybe exposed to inappropriate content. There are inappropriate picture and inappropriate videos on Facebook. If people get mad they might swear and say bad things and kids may learn them and adults may get mad at them for saying the inappropriate words they learned.

Cyber bullying is another reason kids under 13 should not go on Facebook. There have been cases where a person may become very depressed due to cyber bullying. A very depressed mood can lead to short term complications like lower levels of self esteem and self confidence and long term complications like increased risk of heart disease and stroke, both of which are fatal and heart disease cannot be cured.

Hackers are another reason kids under 13 years old should not go on Facebook. People with webcams have reported being webcam hacked and having their privacy invaded. Hackers may also take your ingame money which might have taken weeks or months to gain.

Therefore kids under 13 should not go on Facebooks, however, if kids under 13 are taught how to use Facebook correctly and are taught about all the bad things about Facebook, they could probably use it safely.

      Facebook Exposition

Kids these days are abusing the privilege of Facebook by uploading false ages, creating false accounts, and invading people’s privacy. Facebook’s policy is that you have to be over the age of fourteen in order to have an account. Therefore, kids under the age of fourteen should not be on Facebook.

One of the reasons kids under fourteen shouldn’t be on Facebook is because on Facebook, there is no privacy what so ever example, if your friend on Facebook, has lots of friends, all of their friends can all your information, and all about you. Would you want to give out personal information to people you don’t know about? Absolutely not! There could be people who could be dangerous and harmful that you don’t know anything about.

Yes, Facebook can be a good way to communicate with your friends, but on Facebook, there can be people that you shouldn’t communicate with, such as hackers. Hackers have a very special way of spying on you through your webcam. They are known for taking secret photos of you without you knowing it. Scary isn’t it?

Another reason why kids under fourteen shouldn’t be on Facebook is because of cyber bullying. Facebook or any other blog pages often have cyber bullying. For example, a girl on Facebook was sent a message that said “I will ruin your life!”

Lastly, a reason kids younger than fourteen shouldn’t be on Facebook is because of bad language. Many adults will swear on Facebook to their friend or on the comment page, and kids shouldn’t be open to swearing. This may influence them to use bad and inappropriate language at school or out in public.

Kids under the age of fourteen shouldn’t be on Facebook. Facebook is an adult and teenage page and kids shouldn’t be exposed to some of the words and pictures that may be on Facebook.

Should kids under the age of 14 be Facebook?

Facebook policy says the users must be at least age 13 or older. Kids under the age of 13 should not be able to go on Facebook for many reasons.

The first reason why kids shouldn’t be on facebook. Might be Pedophiles/Predators. These people might want to know your name, your age and where you live so they can follow/stalk you everywhere you go.

Also there can be hackers. They can hack you like your full name, middle name and information on Facebook. Then these people can take over your account and identity.

Another reason kids shouldn’t be on facebook are the bad pages. Out there might be inappropriate content if you like certain pages. For instance, kids might see profane language and explicit images.

Lastly, there is cyber bullying. Cyber bullying is a really big thing. For example, Amanda Todd was being cyber bullied on Facebook. Later she committed suicide.

In conclusion kids under the age of 13 should not be able to go on Facebook because of those reasons.

There many kids right now breaking Facebook’s privacy policy by creating accounts with false age. Facebook’s privacy policy clearly states that you must a least 13 to create an account. But kids just don’t listen. There are a lot of reasons kids should not be on Facebook.

Kids break the policy in a number of ways like spamming (posting more than 3 comments in 5 seconds) swearing in the comments section of posts. It is strictly prohibited! Going on facebook breaks the privacy policy.

Another reason are the bad links. A bad link can contain inappropriate content that children see or a link or ad could contain a virus that’s lets a hacker on into your facebook and your computer and parents don’t want that!

The third reason is hackers. Everybody knows there is a computer hacker. Computer hackers have access to computer info, bank account, Facebook, etc. Then there is a webcam hacker. Now they have access to webcam and you don’t even know it. Even if you turn off your computer they can still see you!

The fourth and final reason parents don’t want their children seeing this…inappropriate content. First of all it can influence the brain with mature content that parents don’t want there children seeing. Second children under 13 can see this content because they are on facebook.

In conclusion facebook needs to make security better like putting a skill testing question that kids under 13 cannot answer. So kids cannot get on facebook. One question why has facebook done it?

Facebook privacy policy state that users must be 13 years old to create a account. Many kids under 14 are still making accounts. Kids under 14 should not use Facebook. Many different bad things could happen.

Firstly, people could hack other accounts so they see all personal information. If they hack a account they could steal a persons identity. This is bad because, then the hacker can become you.

Secondly, people could spread cyber bullying make there victim feel bad because Facebook is everywhere and then then the world could spread these rumors everywhere. Causing kids to be depressed.

Thirdly, people could post pictures that could offends people in many different ways. For example skin color, how they look, like and there personality. That is rude.

Lastly, giving out personal information is dangouris by people could find out where you live what your name is and other personal stuff. Would you want some random stalkers to know your child lives.

Those are the arguments why kids under 14 should not use Facebook.

Facebook private policy states that kids under 13 should not be on facebook but lots of people under 13 are on Facebook. Kids under 13 should not be on Facebook for many reasons.

One of the reasons are there are hackers out there on Facebook that can watch you through your webcam even if your computer is off! So they can get your e-mail and steel your internet.

The second reason is, there is inappropriate content like people post videos and pictures. People can post inappropriate content and you can get exposed to it. So do you want your kid to see inappropriate content?

The third reason is, there is cyber bullying this is a really dangerous one because people feel scared to go to school or ANYWHERE, and they might go so fare they might commit suicide. This has actually happened before in the news.

The last reason is people use fake accounts to get on Facebook. So that means they lie about there age and that is illegal also breaking the policy. Do we want kids to think its okay to break the rules.

So do you want your kid to learn and see all of this stuff? Okay you can stay in touch with your family but, people can see all of your information. But, kids should not be on Facebook.

    Facebook’s Age Policy

Facebook’s not allowing kids under 14 of age to make an account. However, kids are falsely stating their age so they can have an account. Even though this is true, kids should be allowed on Facebook for many reasons.

First, you have to be careful you don’t like inappropriate pages. Otherwise, you can like fun, exciting, and favourite brands and pages, and also get updates of what’s on sale or new types of clothes.

Secondly, it’s a fun and easy way to communicate with your friends and family members with these things called “stickers” and a thumbs up one too. Also, it’s a way to save more money on your phone bill by not texting and calling long distance.

Thirdly, there may be a lot of cyber bullying but, you can block them anytime you want and it would be all over. Facebook has added the block and report features to help prevent cyber bullying.

Lastly, there are a lot of fake accounts and predators on Facebook but, if you don’t talk to them you can talk to people you actually know, you can eventually hangout with them.

These are the reasons why kids under 14 should be on Facebook.

On Facebook there are a lot of dangers for kids. Kids should not be allowed on Facebook if they’re under 13 years of age because on Facebook, there’s inappropriate videos, pictures, or games, hackers, stalking, and cyber-bullies.

Firstly, a reason kids shouldn’t be on Facebook is because there are inappropriate pictures, videos, or games on Facebook, kids can go onto somebody’s profile to check out one thing but end up seeing another. Kids might see somebody’s status that says “Awesome video!” or “Play this game!” Then they click on it and it ends up being something inappropriate or bad for children to see. Children can see or hear things they shouldn’t because their just kids! They shouldn’t be playing, looking, or hearing bad or inappropriate things. If their younger than 13, they defiantly should be on Facebook because of the inappropriate or mature content things.

Secondly, on Facebook, there are a lot of hackers that can get your profile name, hack into your profile, and then get all of your personal information. What hackers can do is hack into your account, get your E-mail, hack your E-mail, and then get your address, phone number, name, age, password for your account, delete all of your things, and then make a fake account under your name and make inappropriate pictures or videos, or games and then people will think you did it, not the hacker. Also, even if they don’t make a new account under your name, they can delete your account, or E-mail, and you will no longer have an e-mail or account. Kids can easily give there password or E-mail to a stranger and get hacked because now they know they can hack you account or E-mail.

Thirdly, on Facebook, there are people who stalk whoever they can find. People who stalk can find your account name and steal your pictures by copying and pasting on to their profile. People who stalk people can also take your pictures and do Photoshop on them to make things look inappropriate, embarrassing, or something you didn’t do. Also, they can look at all of your things and take it all, to make a fake profile and to have some status updates that are your and then making them sound like theirs, not yours.

Lastly, the biggest thing that’s bad for children on Facebook is cyber-bullying. On Facebook, when you put something on Facebook, like a video or picture, it’s on there forever. People can take the picture for their status and say something mean about, and then you can get people talking about you and spreading fake rumors. That’s called cyber-bullying, cyber-bullying is online bullying which can happen to anyone, on anything. Cyber-bullies can swear at you, take about you behind your back, gossip about fake rumors, and tell mean things about your pictures on Facebook. Kids do thing crazy when their not teenagers or adults because their just young and they don’t know not to put things on Facebook or anything. Most people in the world who commit suicide are from being bullied, emotionally, physically, but the easiest way to bully somebody is cyber-bullying them. When kids do get bullied, the person can be across the whole world for all they know, so if kids get bullied online, it’s easier for the bully not to get into trouble. That’s why kids get bullied so easily to get bullied.

In conclusion, kids under 13 should not have Facebook because of all the dangers and mature content there are for kids. Kids should not be stalked, cyber-bullied, hacked, or see or hear things they shouldn’t. If kids are under 13 years of age and have Facebook, they’re breaking the rules policy. Facebook is for ages 13 and up; therefore, kids under 13 years of age shouldn’t have Facebook.

Kids on the web should not be on Facebook because Facebook’s Privacy Policy States that kid must be 13 years old.

Kids should not be on Facebook is because people can hack your Facebook webcam and watch you.

Another reason, is if you friend someone they can see your pictures and go to your page, Also they can see your pictures and your page, post’s.

Thirdly, don’t add random people because people can message you and they can go to your page.

Lastly, cyber bullying is when people can blackmail you post stuff about you ete.

Now as you can see from the evidence, kids should not be on Facebook.

Facebooks policy states you must be 13 or older to go on facebook. Because there is lots of unsafe content. Therefore, kids should not be allowed on facebook.

First there are stalkers that can act like someone you know and can ask for your personal information. and you may say yes and your personal information may be at risk and may put other social accounts at risk.

Also there are bad links. You may get a link that looks like a game or a free movie it may be just a virus or an adult website.A virus may break your computer or damage it.

Another reason hackers. They may hack you, get all your pictures and hack your cam and watch you any time they want Now that’s scary!

Lastly don’t forget cyber bullying There are lots of people that like to bully. Amanda Todd got bullied to the point that she killed herself.

That is why I think kids should not be on Facebook.

Kids under the age of 13 are using Facebook illegally. You must be at least 13 or older to use it, but kids are lying about their age. Therefore, kids showed not to be on Facebook. Kids on the web should not have Facebook because, kids can get hacked by other people and they will know your password and email address. And they will get to know who you are and where you are from.

Kids under 13 are lying about their age so that kids can have Facebook. Facebook says that you have to be 13 and up. The reason that is kids under 13 should not be on Facebook because, there are videos that kids can not see at there age.

Thirdly, Facebook is dangerous because people can find you and know what you’re doing and where you live, and that’s why is Facebook is 13 and over.

Lastly, if kids have Facebook you could be bullied on the internet. They can make group and then send you a not good message or a picture.

This is why kids should not have Facebook, because they can hack you, its illegal, it’s dangerous, and you can get bully.

Should kids be on face book if they are under 13

There are people who think kids should be on Facebook and there are people who think kids should not be on Facebook. The arguments not for face book are better than the arguments for Facebook.

The first reason why kids should not be on Face book is hackers can get to your account because kids usually have easy passwords and can be hacked much easier than an adult sometimes if they hack your account they can delete your account.

Another reason is someone can look at your account and pretend to be your brother with a new account and they can find out were you live and stalk you and then you can kidnapped and if you have your full name its easer to find you

Also you can get cyber bullied and you never know who it is if they live near they can bully you physically they can be old and they can be a pedophile. You never know how old they are.

Lastly you are breaking the policy you can tell someone or they can find you they can be creator or some one close to the creator of face book and you will get kicked off

That why I think kids should not be on facebook.
