Invasion Of The Zebra Mussels is an informational text to give info on zebra mussels. Zebra mussels are now in all of the Great Lakes but the main ones are Lake Erie and Lake Huron. Now these invasive species are mostly in these great lakes. The zebra mussels can lay up to one million eggs per year and attach permanently. They also have blocked a water way in a Michigan town. They can live in almost any aquatic environment! In 1988 the zebra mussels had gotten stuck on a ship from Europe passing by North America so now we have this species of clams in our great lakes.

Invasion of the Zebra Mussels is an informative text about how the zebra mussels are invading North America. The problems began when a ship from Europe was crossing to North America, and by accident was carrying zebra mussels. The ship traveled through multiple Canadian lakes and now the mussels are invading all five Great Lakes and four U.S. river basins. The zebra mussels are causing huge problems, like the fact that zebra mussels feed on tiny species, which are food for tons of other animals that are now beginning to die due to lack of food. As the zebra mussel population grows, other animal populations decline, causing dramatic changes in the ecosystem and upsetting natural ecology.

Invasion of the Zebra Mussels summary
Invasion of the Zebra Mussels is a text about how zebra mussels invaded the Great Lakes. When they clamp together, they can block water pipes and also damage them. Lake Erie has the most of these non-native mollusks because one million eggs are laid a year by female zebra mussels. These invasive species create lots of problems to the land. One of them is that the small mussels eat tiny water animals that land animals also eat, and because of this the land animals starve to death. Zebra mussels can spread and populate quickly and upset the ecosystem, and no one knows how to get rid of them.

    Invasion of the Zebra Mussels
Invasion of the Zebra Mussels is an informative text telling us about non-native mollusk that endangers our great lakes. These tiny invasive species threaten and upset our ecology. Zebra mussels first originated from Europe to North America, they live in so many water environments, that one time they clogged the water pipe of a small town for three days. Even though our lakes are five times clearer, the zebra mussels continue to threaten our ecosystem.

Invasion of the Zebra Mussels is an informational text about an invasive species and how it harms our ecosystem.1998, the small species (about the size of your fingernail) hitched a ride to North America. Then in years it was in the Great Lakes, it soon started attaching itself to any HARD surface, and even to each other. That’s what clogged a water pipeline in Michigan for 3 days!! What really upsets the entire ecosystem is that they eat the tiny animals that other animals eat. So the other animals in the ecosystem are now dying off.

Invasion of the Zebra Mussels is an informative text which purpose is to educate us on how zebra mussels are invading territories all around the world, and causing problems in our ecosystem. Zebra mussels are an invasive species whom are creating huge problems throughout the great lakes. They have traveled from Europe to North America, habited in all of the 5 Great Lakes, and even traveled to 4 U.S rivers. They manage to do this due to their ability to spread quickly. Also, they have a tendency to eat all of the tiny animals they can find that live in their new habitat. However, the food that they eat is a main food source for other animals. Due to the fact that zebra mussels are eating all of the other animal’s food, these animals are becoming extinct. This is not good for our ecosystem.

An informational text is about how zebra mussels infected our Great Lakes and how it’s an invasive species. Europe had the case of zebra mussels which spread to parts of North America. Great lakes were filled with mussels which also spread to aquatic environments, millions of eggs spread. Zebra mussels can stick to hard, living and non-living surfaces. Michigan town’s water pipeline was clogged with zebra mussels. Zebra mussels helped clean Lake Erie; it’s now 5 times cleaner. As the population grows it’s upsetting the ecosystem which animals live in.

Invasion of the Zebra Mussels is an informative text about showing us the damage that can be done by these invasive creatures. The problems that can be caused by these invasive creatures can disturb, harm, or damage the natural ecology. From Europe to North America in 1988, these zebra mussels have traveled by ship damaging a lake between the lakes Erie and Huron. In almost ten years, aquatic environments have been disturbed by the zebra mussels including about four U.S. river basins and all five great lakes. Female zebra mussels usually produce about one million eggs each year, so the larvae drift along the lakes before resolving to the new habitat which will soon contaminate the water in the lake(s). The adult zebra mussels grow to their hard surface place and permanently attach, sometimes they attach to living or nonliving creatures as long as they’re able to eat. The food the zebra mussels eat decreases the amount of food for animal causing some to die which then upsets the ecosystem.

The zebra mussels are attaching to hard objects and they attach to each other too. These invasive species are clogging the town’s water pipes and they are straining the ecosystems, destroying the environment for the people. A little mullusk caused so much big problems and their upsetting the environment of the great lakes.
