Welcome to our class blog. The whole idea of this blog is to get students engaged in the writing process using technology. Our class is very tech oriented as we have a Smartboard, so the logical step is to use it and the internet to improve our learning. Enjoy!

Neil, wow! What a great site. Very organized. How long have you been at it? I just started mine a couple of months ago. Just spoke with Jordan Nelson’s mom. She spoke highly of your site. I’m curious about the power writing thing. What’s that all about?
    Cheers, Mike

      Hi Mike,

I have had the blog going now for two full years. It didn’t start out so neat and well organized, but you learn quickly. Power writing is really cool. It is a simple way of organizing your writing so it is paragraphed. I don’t think I can explain it here, but I will courier you a booklet that I made up. Ii really think it has potential for the intermediate grades as well.

I think the book The Royal Bee main idea is never give up. I think this because Song ho didn’t give up when Master Min told him to go home. This tells us Song ho did not care what Master Min told him to go home he just wanted to grow up and make money and help his mother. Also Song ho’s mother didn’t give up when Song ho’s father died. I think this book is fiction because there are no pictures and I don’t think they had spelling bees in this time period. This tells us the main idea is probably never give up.

Greetings Neal. I am finally getting around to checking your site out this year. Great to see the kids writing about their reading. Your site has certainly evolved. The classroom looks great. I know that you have been reading the Hobbit and both Ethan and Andrew are keen to see the movie. Great to see good literature being presented to kids. Keep up the good work.

I can’t believe it’s been about 4years since I went to St. James. I’m now going into Gr. 11. Would love to see the school once school starts, which is right around the corner. High school is going by too fast and it seems like I will be graduating next week. To be honest I would be fine if there was a grade 13, I don’t really know what I want to be when I grow up. I really have changed, I have gotten into carpentry and auto mechanics and even welding, but I also really like music (trumpet and French horn in particular). Other than that I have only gotten taller and not much has changed. Nice to see the blog is still in use.

    Color Poem

    Blue is the sky.
    Blue is calm.
    Blue is cool.
Blue is a hot summer day.
    Blue tastes like blueberries.
    Blue smells like fresh flowers.
    Blue sounds like birds chirping.
Blue feels like a nice cool breeze.
Blue looks like a beautiful sky.
    Blue makes me happy.
    Blue is awesome.

    I am poem
    I am funny and happy
I wonder what heavens is like
    I hear soldiers dying
    I see people passing on
    I want so much $money$
    I am fun and happy
    I pretend it’s the purge
    I feel a giant’s toe nail
    I touch a woolly mammoth
I worry I will pass on
I cry about saying good bye
    I am funny and happy
I understand saying goodbye is hard
    I say Calliou is real
    I dream going behind bars
    I try to be good
    I hope to get $Money$
    I am funny and happy.
